Using concepts from Gates’ lecture and examples from the textbook, discuss the value of culture versus individual choice in practices of abortion, surrogacy, and female genital mutilation.

These two stories are based on cultural changes spurred by globalization and speak to the importance of education and opportunities for women. In your post, discuss how the videos and readings have influenced your perception of globalization. Do you believe the impact of globalization and economic development on the status of women in non-Western nations has been largely positive or negative?
